New Player FAQ

Does getting hit with a paintball hurt?

Yes, getting hit by a paintball can hurt, but the level of pain depends on several factors:

Factors That Affect Pain:

  1. Distance – The closer you are, the harder and more painful the hit. Shots from far away hurt less.

  2. Location – Hits on bony areas (hands, knees, head) hurt more than fleshy spots (thighs, butt, back).

  3. Protective Gear – Wearing thick clothing, padded vests, or gloves reduces pain significantly.

  4. Paintball Velocity – Fields regulate speed (usually 250-300 fps), but faster shots hurt more.

  5. Adrenaline – During gameplay, you might not feel it as much due to adrenaline.

How Much Does It Hurt?

  • Bare skin – Feels like a sharp snap or rubber band sting (can leave a welt).

  • With clothing – More like a firm flick; less painful.

  • With padding/gear – Barely noticeable.

Tips to Reduce Pain:

  • Wear long sleeves, pants, and gloves.

  • Use a chest protector or padded jersey.

  • Keep moving—staying still makes you an easier target.

Do you have to sign a waiver?

YES, everyone signs a waiver. We check.  Safety is a big, big deal at the field and so is signing a waiver.  You can see the waiver on the main menu of this website.

What's included with entry?

The basic package is included:

  • Paintball marker (gun)
  • 200 paintballs
  • Mask
  • Chest protector (optional)
  • Safety brief

What beginner package do you recommend?

The basic package works great!  But there are always players who want a little nicer package and we can’t blame them.

Should you be scared?

It’s normal to be nervous or even afraid.  But we’ve had thousands of players and we have yet to have one say the sting was too much.  And when you’re having this kind of fun, you find the little sting that occasionally might come with it is well worth it.

Can a new player 'just show up' and play?

Yes.  If you pay, you will play.  The recball games are friendly and fun with mutliple game types and stratagies. The speedball games are competitive but you can expect to play if you ‘just show up’ by yourself and don’t know anyone else at the field.
